AN INVESTIGATION has been launched following a poisoning scare at a public swimming pool in south Liverpool.
Ten children and a man were taken to hospital with nausea after being overcome by chemicals at Liverpool Council’s Lifestyles Centre in Garston on Wednesday night.
The children were taken to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital suffering with itchy eyes and skin but were sent home after being checked out.
Liverpool Council said it had tested the pool this morning and it had been declared safe to use and had now reopened.
A spokesman for Liverpool Council said: “There was an incident last night in the swimming pool of Garston Lifestyles Centre which resulted in eleven people (one adult and 10 children) being taken to hospital for nausea.
“A joint investigation has been launched by Liverpool City Council and the Health and Safety Executive to determine the exact cause of the incident.
“The swimming pool has been fully tested this morning and declared safe to use and is now open for business as usual.’’
