For many years I resisted covering our beautiful swimming pool with a big green tarp. But after several really cold winters in Georgia we got tired of maintaining the pool in the winter months, not to mention the cost of keeping it running almost 24/7 when the temperatures dropped below freezing. So we checked into the different types of covers that were available and found that the mesh fabric was our favorite choice. Here’s why.
1. Safety
Did you know that a mesh pool cover can also be a swimming pool safety cover? Neither did I until we got several estimates from different pool companies. Not all inground pool covers are considered a pool safety cover. Safety covers protect small children and animals from accessing the pool and prevents any water from accumulating on the top of the cover.solar cover. These covers are installed by drilling holes into the cement and then using straps to pull the cover taught across the pool. These covers are heavier and made to withstand the weight of a person.bache a bulle. With three small grandchildren who are frequently at our home, we knew that this was our number one criteria.
2. Cost
The cost of the lighter weight mesh fabric is substantially less than the solid fabric – by several hundred dollars. solar blanket.Plus when a solid fabric is used, then a pool cover pump must also be purchased.
3. Weight
The mesh fabric is much lighter than the solid fabric. Because we have such a large pool, this became a bigger factor for us, since after the initial install we will be the ones taking it off and putting it on.
4. Drains
The mesh fabric allows the rain water or melted snow or ice to drain into the pool. Before our inground swimming pool cover was installed, we winterized the pool by having the lines blown and drained the pool by several inches.
5. Algae
In the past, the main benefit of solid pool covers was that they had the highest UV protection. A 99% UV block meant that no sunlight was able to get to the pool water and cause algae to grow. We found a mesh pool cover
