Tap Tap Love: Bubble Wrap iPhone Game Rip Off
One of the yearly invention competitions that kids really get into is the Bubble Wrap Competition for Young Inventors. Out of 2500 entries to the fourth Bubble Wrap contest, Sealed Air, the inventor and manufacturer of Bubble Wrap, has announced 3 finalists and 12 semi-finalists in the 2009-2010 competition. The neat thing for kids and grownups is that you can make them yourselves!

MaryAnn Bulawa, a 14-year-old from Ava, NY, invented the Smart Toilet, a device that attaches to a toilet to help conserve energy and water.

Fridge Guard, Finalist
The Fridge Guard was invented by Jared Mann, a 13-year old from Chistiansburg, VA. The Guard acts as a curtain that can be made for any refrigerator to help conserve energy.

Petri Bubbles, Finalist
Matthew Huber, a 13-year-old from St. Peter, MN, invented Petri Bubbles, a Bubble Wrap petri dish that offers a very inexpensive alternative to laboratory petri dishes.

Bubble Debruiser, Semi-Finalist
Eric Baker, 11, from Longwood FL, invented the Bubble Debruiser to keep fruit from being bruised when it falls from a tree. He’s made a working model and a small-scale model of his invention.

The winner of the 2009-2010 Bubble Wrap Competition for Young Inventors will be announced on May 22, 2010 at an awards ceremony. The top prize is a $10,000 savings bond. The three finalists will all get a free 3-day trip to New York City, plus the second and third place winners will receive bond for $5,000 and $3,000 respectively.
