It might have happened with you a couple of times that while traveling one of your favorite and very costly glass or ceramic show piece or gift gets partially damaged or even breaks. We feel disheartened or perhaps very angry during these situations and think of why weren’t these things articles packed properly.
For the protection of the precious articles, many different types of packaging items have been manufactured by the various companies. One such packaging material is the simple plastic sheet which is made with air bubbles in it. The bubble wrap is a transparent plastic sheet with regularly spaced and protruding air filled bubbles. These air bubbles are genuinely used to cushion the fragile materials and prevent them from getting damaged.
The bubble wrap was made accidentally by two engineers in the year 1957. Actually they were trying to make textured wallpaper made from low density polyethylene sheet and the designed paper to cover the walls so that it can be easily cleaned when dirty or gets stained. Thus though accidentally but a very important and useful item was invented which is used to package nearly all items ranging from the electronic items to the ceramic, glass items kept in the boxes.
The air filled bubbles in the plastic sheet acts like a shock absorber protecting all the fragile items. When the item is very delicate and costly, multiple layers of bubble wrap can be used to cover the items and thus protecting them from the unwanted destructions. Sometimes a different type of bubble wrap is used which are basically anti-static in nature to protect the very sensitive electronic articles from the static charges which can cause them a lot of damage. Some of the very important properties of a bubble wrap are that it is moisture resistant, good insulator, elastic, strong and most importantly it is 100% recyclable. Thus it protects the electronic items from getting damaged due to the moisture. It is also acts as a good insulator and thus protects the articles from the extreme cold and the heat. The bubble wrap is very strong and don’t tear easily due to its elastic property thus can be used to protect the fragile items for a long time.
Thus due to such properties the use of bubble wraps has increased ever since its invention. It is used to pack nearly every type of material. Hence bubble wrap bags, and sheets of different sizes and shapes are manufactured by the companies.
