Usually when the mercury has hit above 30 degrees, the kids are begging to be allowed down to the local pool (again) and all you want to do is float in a blue oasis and wash away the day’s stress! Swimming is one of the best methods of building core strength and toning muscles, and what’s more, it is far more enjoyable to to this in your own backyard than to pay ridiculous fees in order to use the over-chlorinated local gym pool.

A quick dip before bed and a few laps is a perfect way to stretch your muscles, cool your body temperature and prepare your body for a deep, uninterrupted sleep. What’s more, there is nothing more refreshing than waking from a sticky, hot sleep in the dead of Summer and being able to plunge into your pool–a better wake up call than any cup of coffee, and one that will leave you feeling revitalised all day–until you can come home and repeat the process!
